OpenAI Certification Practice Questions

We are building an MCQ practice bank for OpenAI’s certification exam. OpenAI has not yet published the exam domains, so there are no questions here yet. Follow along on the blog and we will map our content to the official blueprint as soon as it is released.

The full question bank is in final review. Sign-ups open at launch. Our study guides and the research behind the method are live today.

    Why this works

    Three reasons learners actually pass.

The platform is built around retrieval practice: what the published research finds works, and what works in front of the examiner.

    01 / 03

    Mapped to the Official Blueprint

OpenAI has not yet released the exam domains or their weightings. When it does, we will organise every question against that blueprint rather than guessing at the structure in advance.

    02 / 03

    Track Progress by Domain

Our other qualifications show mastery topic by topic so you can see where revision time is best spent. The OpenAI bank will work the same way once the exam structure is published.

    03 / 03

    An Explanation With Every Answer

Every question we write carries a detailed explanation of why the answer is right. The reported emphasis on judgement in this exam makes the reasoning matter more than the recall.

    How it works

From landing here to passing the paper.

You're answering real questions before you finish reading this page. No content gating and no pre-assessment funnel.

    01

    We Wait for the Blueprint

OpenAI has partnered with ETS on the psychometric design and Credly by Pearson on badging. Until the exam domains are published there is nothing reliable to practise against, so we are not going to invent one.

    02

    We Build the Bank

Once the domains and weightings are public, we write questions against them at all three difficulty levels, with an explanation on every answer.

    03

    You Practise and Track Progress

At launch you will get a free unit with no card required, a dashboard showing mastery by domain, and the rest of the bank on subscription.

    The evidence

    Active recall is the literature.

Decades of cognitive-science research find that retrieval practice (answering questions you might get wrong) produces more durable learning than re-reading or highlighting. We built a question bank disciplined enough to use it.

    FAQ

The questions serious applicants actually ask.

Can I practise for the OpenAI certification here yet?
Not yet. OAI Prep is in development and there are no questions on the site at the moment. We are waiting for OpenAI to publish the exam domains so that our practice content matches what is actually tested.
Does the OpenAI certification exam exist?
Partly. OpenAI Academy offers free AI Foundations courses that award a Credly completion badge, which records that you finished a course rather than that you passed an assessment. A full proctored exam has been announced and is reported to be in development with ETS providing the psychometric design, but as of August 2026 it is still running through employer pilots and OpenAI has not opened public registration or committed to a date.
    What will the exam cover?
OpenAI has not published the exam domains, weightings, question count, duration, passing score, or proctoring arrangements. Anyone selling a syllabus breakdown for this exam today is guessing. We will publish ours when the official blueprint is released.
    When will OAI Prep launch?
We will start writing questions as soon as OpenAI publishes the exam domains, and the site goes live once the first bank is written and reviewed. We have not set a launch date because it depends on OpenAI’s timing rather than ours.
Is OAI Prep affiliated with OpenAI?
No. OAI Prep is an independent practice platform and is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by OpenAI. All content is our own preparation material. OpenAI and ChatGPT are trademarks of OpenAI, Inc.
Will there be a free tier?
Yes. As with every qualification we run, the first unit will be free with no credit card required, and a subscription will unlock the rest of the bank.
